Bloomers

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

The bloomers at Peek, Aren’t You Curious and Baby Bean Vintage Day Wear have been on my mind a lot and I figured I could replicate them with a little effort and a lot less money. That was half true. I picked up some quilters calico for a buck, but creating my own pattern surpassed my limited spacial skills. However, if you combine a degree of distance with some squinting, it appears as though I captured the look.

I had a bit of extra fabric and decided to make a top to match the bloomers, a la the author’s toddler picture from the title page of Rachael Ray’s Classic 30-Minute Meals. (Yes, I get fashion inspiration from cookbooks.)

E wore her new outfit yesterday. The light-weight fabric and breezy design proved ideal for playing outside in the Arizona heat. Victory!

Ok, now on to the next project…

A laughing baby

Monday, May 18th, 2009

Four-year-olds are the smartest. The other day, my brother-in-law made me laugh so hard I was crying and shaking all over. His son, who’s four, looked at me and noted, “You’re laughing Aunt B.” He paused. Then he pointed at my jiggling tummy, “Your baby is laughing too.”
