Park Day

Monday, August 24th, 2009

My in-laws live in an older neighborhood of mid-century homes on large lots, surrounded by giant trees. (Serious house lust!) There’s a small park just down the street that appears to be as untouched as the neighborhood with its enormous swing set and aluminum slide, and a delightfully dangerous seesaw.  I guess the plaintiffs’ attorneys haven’t smoked out the place yet. All the better for us.

Grandpa

grandpa

From the day E was born, K has been “a natural.” Careful arms, a soothing voice, a tolerant nose and complete ease with the tiniest of infants.  In many ways, he took to parenting much faster than I did.

I thought K’s ability was simply unique intuition. But now that I’ve seen my father-in-law with K2, I realize that my husband’s gentle giant ways were modeled to him by his father.

Each morning finds them brighter than before.

Didn’t hurt that last night he slept nine hours straight.
